The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree,
He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Planted in the house of the Lord,
They will flourish in the courts of our God.
Yesterday I was busy in the garden, planting out Geraniums, Dianthus, Sweet William, and Buddlea. The first two were complimentary planting around the base of our Crab Apple tree, requiring a pleasant symmetry. The Sweet William was of two varieties planted together to compliment each other in our new sun patio, quite close to the Budlea which is more a long term plan. Sadly I had to dispose of a shrub which was rather bedraggled, not having totally recovered from a hot spell last summer. And finally, I painted some pots a pleasing black before watering in my new charges. As I worked away at these tasks this Psalm came to my mind saying that the righteous
will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.
To continue my recent theme of gardening, in this moment I was reminded that my Father God is the Gardener – and I am His tree planted by Him where He wants me to flower.
Dear reader, you are His! All the planning and care I put into my garden is a pale imitation in comparison to Father God’s planning and care for His garden. He will plant you in precisely the right place where you can serve Him the best. In His care you will flourish.
