Unless the Lord builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it…

Psalm 127:1a (NASB)

I must confess, I am no good at DIY. I can just about manage basic tasks, but anything requiring specific skill I leave to an expert, by appointment. In the past I have worked as a labourer under a builder, completing various projects successfully. They were successful because the builder was in charge and I did as I was told, trying to do things my way would have been like building a house on the sand.

Our verse today reminds us of our relationship with our Father God – The Master Builder. He has the blueprint of our life before Him, He knows every part of our foundation and where our load bearing points are. If we trust Him to guide us He will build us to stand on Jesus our Rock, into an Eternity with Him.

Dear reader, sometimes we think we know best in our life, only to watch our efforts reduced to rubble. In such times we need to repent of our pride, and seek Him. I urge you to surrender your life and labours to The Master Builder – your Father God.

  1. Amen. we have a master craftsman who is willing to use all of His skill and ability to help us become more like His Son. And just like watching any skilled person, sometimes it looks like their way of carrying out their particular trade is ridiculous…until we realise they really DO know what they are doing, and the finished work bears that out.

may we all trust our Master Craftsman, especially when His approach is the one we consider least sensible for a successful completion!!
