Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brothers to dwell together in unity!
Psalm 133:1 (NASB)
I have been reminded lately of some of my fond birding memories, one of my favourites from my childhood is of Autumn murmurations of Starlings over our village. These huge flocks of thousands were seen every year as they wheeled and danced rhythmically over the dimming sky. They created beautiful patterns that were like living mystical creatures skipping across the roof tops. Sadly such scenes are rarer nowadays due to a crash in bird populations in recent decades, thanks to man made encroachments. As I reminisce on these unified displays I think of the family of God, and the unity we have in Christ.
In recent times we have seen church doors closed because of Covid restrictions, but the family of Christ adapted and thrived by the grace of Almighty God. We may all be unique, even living in different countries, but we live and move as one body following the guidance of God. In our personal walk we play our part by exercising “love, the perfect bond of unity” (Colossians 3:14). A word of encouragement is not difficult to freely offer, or an act of kindness offered in love. In unity the children of God can move across our communities, creating a murmuration of Divine Love for all to see and to be inspired by.
Let Us Pray: Dear Father God, we worship and adore You. We thank You for the depth of Your Love for us overwhelms us and leads us to dwell in unity. Guide us today to grow our unity in love for one another. Amen.
