For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that through His poverty might become rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9 (NASB)

There is something special about an unexpected gift. It comes out of the blue and lifts you up just at the right time. I remember a friend who collected autographed pictures by writing to famous people. He often got nothing back but he did get some good pics. But one stood out in his collection from Muhammad Ali, it was a parcel! In it was a beautiful handwritten letter signed photos and a book. I remember the day it arrived, my friends excitement was infectious as he told the whole village about it.

I remember one of my own which was a holiday/retreat to St.Mary’s House on Lindisfarne (Holy Island). I had been quite stressed at the time when I was given an envelope with the gift in it from an anonymous benefactor. That was a precious gift that blessed me hugely, and still does even now.

Of course the greatest gift I have ever received came from the throne room of Heaven. No earthly gift no matter how grand could outshine the glory of the gift of Salvation from the Son of God, Jesus Christ. It is a gift that cost Him dearly, impoverishing Him on a cruel cross at Calvary. Like all gifts it could be rejected, but I was not about to refuse the forgiving outstretched hand of God. I repented my sin and accepted Him. I became a child of God with a reservation in Heaven in my name!

Dear reader, have you accepted your gift from the throne of Heaven? It was purchased at a great cost and has your name on it. Reach out and take His hand, repent and accept Him.
